Stephen L. Jacques received his undergraduate degree from California State University at Northridge in 1970. Following a 10-year career as an international photojournalist in England, France and the former Soviet Union, he obtained his law degree from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles and was admitted to the California Bar in 1983. In 1990, he relocated to Connecticut and in 1996 became a partner of Moore, O'Brien, Jacques & Yelenak in Cheshire, CT, limiting his practice to personal injury, with an emphasis in medical malpractice, He is admitted to the Bars of Connecticut, New York, Massachusetts and California.

Mr. Jacques is a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates, a national trial bar organization in which membership is by invitation only and limited to the top trial lawyers in the State based upon their trial experience and ability. He is also a member of the Board of Governors of the Connecticut Trial Lawyers Association and a former Board of Governors member of the Los Angeles Trial Lawyers Association and former editor of that organization's monthly publication.

Mr. Jacques is also a member of the American Association for Justice. In Los Angeles, where Mr. Jacques practiced for seven years, he concentrated in products liability and represented catastrophically injured victims in cases against General Motors, Ford, Honda and Chrysler. In 2000, he was admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court.

Since 1988 Mr. Jacques has represented plaintiffs in aviation litigation, including the victims of the ValuJet crash in Florida, the TWA Flight SOO disaster off Long Island and the 2000 Alaska Airlines crash off the coast of California.

WRONGFUL DEATH

Truck-Car Crash settlement $1,450,000
Truck collided with client's car in Vermont, causing severe chest injuries and eventual death. Settlement was based on pre-death pain and suffering and loss of income as a discount store clerk.
Death of Child in Car Crash; settlement $1,900,000
Our client, a fourteen-year old boy was a passenger in the rear seat of a car operated by a friend when the car left the highway and rolled over. A claim against one defendant was settled for $200,000, and the remaining defendants paid an additional $1.7 million dollars in an arbitration award.
TWA Flight 800 crash; settlement
Our client was one of the victims of the TWA Flight 800 crash off Long Island, New York. Our client was on route to Paris to present his fiancé with a diamond engagement ring when the plane went down. After years of litigation, the case was settled and the parties agreed to a confidentiality agreement. The engagement ring was eventually found at the bottom of the ocean.
Amusement park accident; settlement $1,000,000
Our client was a five year old boy who died when thrown from a ride at an amusement park. A lawsuit was filed against the park claiming that the ride was mechanically defective and inadequately staffed. The insurance carrier for the amusement park settled for $1,000,000.
